Ambient Origins $5.00 (MIR305)
Stephen Bacchus

A collection of rare ambient music and electronic music works from the mid-1980s reflecting the artist's earlier influences. Captured here for the first time on CD is electronic music evocative of cavernous underground warehouses and abandoned munitions factories, deep cold Canadian winters, and lost childhood memories. Bacchus has said of this release: "Returning to these earlier musical works has given me insight into my compositional process, and a chance to rediscover my connection with electronic music and ambient music. For some this may provide the missing link to the origins of my other albums."

The music on "True Stories" combines elements of both artists' past work with new musical territory. The seamless blending of both artists' visions is fully realized on "True Stories."

Apsaras $9.88 (PRO126)
Alio Dea & Amelia Cuni

With 15 different collaborations and 7 solo albums to his name, Italian ambient soundscape constructor Alio Die presents his most stunning release to date. His work with Robert Rich and Vidna Obmana have set the stage for the unusual beauty of this dramatic work, celebrating nature and the magic of the human voice. In Hindu mythology, the Apsaras are female spirits of nature, usually water nymphs. Flowing in the waters, these celestial nymphs come out of the waves like the first seed of the mind: desire. Talented artistically, the Apsaras are very beautiful; charming musicians and dancers for the pleasure of the Gods. Near mint condition! Review from Projekt website.CD out-of-stock

Cold $17.99 (ELCD002)
Artemiy Artemiev

On this release the mood has changed somewhat, blowing hot and cold. The difference in styles are quite apparent. "Waiting for the Winter" and "Freezing" show mournful icy tones, you can almost imagine the bleak, barren Siberian wastelands, uninviting and certain death. "Transition to the Winter Time" again displays this feel but more intense this time round, a perception of hopelessness. Then we have "Lullaby for a Lonely Wanderer" possessing an abundance of warm chords, a though provoking piece, expressing relief. The title track is total abandonment, transfixing, hypnotic, darker and stranger than anything else. Another unusual and powerful statement from Artemiy. Mick Garlick ("Sequences") Sold Out!

Point Of Intersection $17.99 (ELCD003)
Artemiy Artemiev

This album is as different as you could imagine from the previous "Cold". It has five tracks, a lot longer and in many respects this allows Artemiy to build bigger and stronger images. "Under Cover of the Skies" is a stunning piece that contains ambient swirls with vocal samples and a sound that resembles one of those Tibetan singing bowl. A superb track to play when you're expecting first contact! The longest track, at over 21 minutes, is "Down by the Footsteps Leading to the Abyss". A variety of styles used throughout hints at "Tangerine Dream", and Jarre although Artemiev uses some superb classical music that seems to emphasize and enhance the overall effect of this long piece. The title track is simply awesome. A very brooding and moody number. Another winner. Dave W. Hughes ("Modern Dance")

Soundfall To The Infinite $15.99 (ZOBL1044)
Brennan Lane & Zero Ohms

Richly thrumming soundfluids surge toward Beyond (3:32) on slightly undulating streams, accented by crispy little textures. Warmly drifting veils of flutedrones hover above the plains of endless, subtly writhing in misty motions. Dusky Indian-esque reeds flitter and trill in the Land of Blue Mist, as shaker actvities add even more arid atmospherics to the desertlike scenes. Twinkling spaciousness leads into Soundfall, where repeating note patterns slowly glimmer amid vaporous, slightly shifting airwaves. The billowing flow of To The Infinite (18:58) hangs in weightless suspension, resonating with warmth and energy; eventually Gordon Rhyne's overtone singing is half-heard woven into the everexpanding strands. The six tracks ofSoundfall To The Infinite pieces clock in at over 63 minutes, making for more than an hour of turbulence-free immersion. With an impressive collection of assorted (and often processed) flutes at his disposal, Zero Ohms blows peaceful winds into Brannan Lane's synth-and-more soundscapes. Sold Out!

Whispers of Nature is his foray into the new agey combination of sounds from nature and relaxed electronic music. SACRED SITE $11.49 (HS11038)
Michael Stearns

The grand emotions evoked by these large, spatial sound structures resonate in the mind with a power that seems conscious of the immensity of time itself. I'm sure if Bach is still listening he's pleased and possibly a little jealous... Sacred Site marks the return of Michael Stearns as a solo artist after five busy years creating spectacular soundtrack music. Stearns saw the dawn of the 90's while traveling to Indonesia, Thailand, Egypt, Costa Rica, Brazil and the Galapagos Islands to record indigenous music and sound effects for film assignments. Arriving with an open mind and a finely tuned ear for ambience, he left stimulated -- not only by the exotic soundscapes and unfamiliar instruments he heard, but also by the powerful, elemental music of these ancient worlds. As a result, SACRED SITE shows a deeper integration of brilliant soundscape recordings and multi-cultural elements into Stearns's epic cinematic spacemusic style.

Collected Thematic Works 1977-1987 $17.99 (110692)
Michael Stearns

As the burgeoning Ambient genre begins to discover its forefathers, interest has grown in the work of first generation ambient/electronic composers. MICHAEL STEARNS began publishing his own music on cassette in the mid '70s. This CD compiles the best of the first ten years of his recorded "thematic" work, which took off from his early experiences as a rock and surf band guitarist and matured into his famous soundtracks for widescreen films like Chronos and Baraka. This highly collectable material is all long out of print or previously unreleased and has been carefully compiled, remastered, and annotated by the artist. The companion album (11068-2) compiles his "ambient and textural" material. Stearns anticipated the now-fashionable use of ambiences and exotic location sounds in his music beginning in 1979, and specialized in creating mind-bending electronic textures from first generation analog synths and custom built instruments almost twenty years before the Aphex Twin.

Time Actor $11.88 (IC710094)
Richard Wahnfried

Richard Wahnfried is an alias that experimental musician Klaus Schulze has been known to record under. What sets Wahnfried apart from Schulze's regular solo releases is that it always involves the German multi-instrumentalist joined by a host of virtuosic musicians (including percussionist Michael Shrieve, guitarist Manuel Göttsching, and singer Michael Garvens, among others). The musical style of the Wahnfried project can be best described as electronic/new age, as it was originally launched in 1979 (although Schulze had been issuing solo albums since 1972) with the release of Time Actor. Schulze only managed to release a total of two Wahnfried albums during the entire '80s (1981's Tonwelle and 1984's Richard Wahnfried Plays Megatone), while the '90s proved to be more fruitful (1990's Miditation, 1995's Trancelation, 1996's Trance Appeal, and 1997's Drums 'N' Balls).

MEMORIES COMPILED $15.49 (ARC00007)
Vidna Obmana

A beautiful double-cd bringing together Vidna’s first two cassettes, along with unreleased material from the same era. Comprising the majority of this Belgian composers work from his post-industrial period, these two hours focus on a dense dark ambient sound, with an un-nerving sub-texture. The packaging and music on this release amazingly capture Vidna Obmana in his dark prime.

Perihelion $14.99 (HYP1910)
Viridian Sun

Following solo releases by both members (synthesist & Hypnos founder Mike Griffin, and guitar experimentalist David Tollefson), sonic adventurers Viridian Sun follow up their daring, acclaimed debut, SOLAR NOISE. PERIHELION goes in a slightly new sonic direction, but retains the intuitive, improvisational approach. The focus remains on creating highly visual and evocative soundscapes, an ever-evolving construction of loops and drifting background textures, both hypnotic and beautiful.
