The Oasis Lost Music ArchivesWith the rise and proliferation of the cassette in the late '70s followed by the introduction of the compact disc in the 80's, there was a tremendous growth of independently produced albums of music. Much of this was created outside of mainstream music channels. And, whenever there is a technological change in the music industry, one of the casualties is the loss of music as the industry transitions from an older technology format to newer technology format. A new great loss of music is now occuring with the transition of music from the CD format to downloading. The Oasis Lost Music Archives attempts to preserve some of the music that has unable to cross these various "technological divides" (LP/Cass to CD; CD to downloading). Here are just a few examples of artists, labels and albums that have become lost (some may be still be available from us for purchase): Artists Rick Miller, Douglas Cutler, Aki Domo, Alex Jones, Paul Serret, Brent Snyder, Kenneth Wells, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Beverley-Glenn Copeland, Sol Petersen, Joseph Danza, PC Davidoff, Syrinx Labels Sun Energy Music (NZ), Private Music, GRD Recordings(Can.)
